Participants are responsible for covering their own travel to and from Charlottesville, but all meals, accommodations, and programming are fully covered once you get there! Limited aid is available via our Amtrak partnership or funding on a case by case basis. Please indicate here if you have a financial need.
In order to attend Oeno Camp, you must agree to abide by our code of conduct, outlined below:
Oeno Camp Code of Conduct
Oeno Camp is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and professional environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders (“Participants”) and is intended to uphold the integrity, safety, and educational mission of Oeno Camp.
1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
Participants are expected to comply with all applicable laws, including but not limited to those governing alcohol consumption, harassment, and personal conduct. Oeno Camp reserves the right to remove any participant whose behavior violates these laws or this Code of Conduct.
2. Harassment, Discrimination, and Misconduct
Oeno Camp strictly prohibits:
Discrimination or harassment based on color, religion, creed, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
Oeno Camp has a zero-tolerance regarding any kind of discrimination or harassment that creates a hostile and unpleasant environment. Unwelcome or unsolicited sexual advances, displaying sexually suggestive material, unwelcome sexual flirtations or propositions, suggestive comments, verbal abuse of sexual nature, sexually oriented jokes, crude or vulgar language or gestures, graphic or verbal commentaries about an individual’s body, display or distribution of obscene materials, physical contact such as patting, pinching or brushing against someone’s body, requests for sexual favors, or physical assault of a sexual nature. Verbal, physical, or visual harassment, bullying, intimidation, or stalking. Invasion of privacy, including unauthorized photography, video recording, or sharing of personal information without consent.
Any conduct that disrupts the experience of other participants or creates an unsafe environment.
Oeno Camp has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. Any violations may result in immediate expulsion from the event and further consequences as outlined below.
3. Responsible Alcohol Consumption
Wine tasting is an integral part of Oeno Camp’s educational experience. However, all Participants must consume alcohol responsibly. The following guidelines apply:
Participants must be of legal drinking age and must not provide alcohol to minors.
Excessive intoxication, belligerent behavior, or inability to participate in scheduled activities due to alcohol or drug consumption is strictly prohibited.
If a Participant appears impaired, Oeno Camp staff or designees may require them to refrain from further tasting, return to their accommodations, or leave the event.
Non-compliance with requests to moderate alcohol consumption or behavior may result in removal from the event.
4. Consequences of Code Violations
Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:
Immediate removal from Oeno Camp without refund.
Ban from future Oenoverse or The Veraison Project sponsored events.
Requirement to reimburse Oeno Camp for the full cost of participation, including accommodations and program expenses.
5. Reporting Violations
Any Participant who feels that he/she/they has been harassed or discriminated against, or has witnessed or become aware of discrimination or harassment in violation of these policies, should immediately report the allegations to any of the following: Oenoverse or The Veraison Project Staff.
Oeno Camp will promptly investigate all allegations of discrimination and harassment and take action as appropriate based on the outcome of the investigation. An investigation and its results will be treated as confidential to the extent feasible, and the Oeno Camp will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation.
6. No Retaliation
Oeno Camp prohibits any form of retaliation against Participants for making a complaint in good faith regarding a violation of these policies or any statute or regulation, or for participating in good faith in an investigation pursuant to these policies. If a Participant feels he/she/they have been subject to retaliation, the Participant should file a complaint using the reporting procedures in the preceding section.
By attending Oeno Camp, all Participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
